FAA paper licences to expire 31 March 2010 |
Pilots cannot exercise the privileges of their PAPER pilot certificates after March 31, 2010. Certificates issued under 14 CFR Part 63 and 65 will expire March 31, 2013.
Pilots should be aware that their current Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) pilot certificates will expire on March 31, 2010. New counterfeit-resistant plastic certificates are now available from the FAA. The cost is $2 to replace a paper certificate with a plastic certificate. Processing by mail takes 4-6 weeks and online processing takes up to 10 days. Some non-pilot certificates, such as those for flight engineers and mechanics, are good for another three years but then they will also have to be replaced. Student certificates are not affected. Pilots can also ask the FAA to issue a new certificate number that does not match their Social Security number for additional protection. Click here for more information. |
